Educators

Our schools share an important purpose with families and others in our local communities—developing informed, engaged citizens. It is consistent with good education to teach about essential democratic process first-hand as Kids Voting does. I cannot think of a more important experience for our youth than participating in this so very “American” venture.

Former New Hampshire Commissioner of Education

Kids Voting New Hampshire and its national affiliate, Kids Voting USA, is working to secure the future of democracy by preparing young people to be educated, engaged voters. We operate through a national network of community-based affiliates that partner with schools and election officials to offer students in K-12 a wide range of opportunities for civic learning. It is the combination of classroom instruction, family dialogue and an authentic voting experience that makes Kids Voting a powerful strategy for achieving long-term increase in voter participation.

The program is designed to work with the social studies curriculum currently used so teachers can choose activities that are appropriate to lesson plans and that fit time requirements. The activities are tools to help teachers meet the standards outlined in the National Curriculum Standards for Social Studies and some state standards.
